A drunk sorority girl in the staircase, an economy crazed lunatic on the corner, and a drug deal in the middle of biology class, I know it sounds like the setup to a bad joke, but actually this is the only place in the world where you can see all of these rare and distinctive creatures at one time: college. Yet, this is also the same ecosystem wherein another creature resides: massive student debt.
My business idea profits from college student’s wild lifestyles and crushing weight of loans by offering them a way to pay for their extravagance and fiscal irresponsibility.
My company, Gator Garb, will offer them cold hard cash for lightly used clothing, jewelry, shoes, and other personal items. The items they bring in will be assessed for value and condition. They will be given a payment that is 25-50% the cost of the item. Students will be able to participate in the process by accepting the payment or leaving with their items. Bought items are resold via various avenues. Small scale items are resold at thrift stores, while bigger items and high-value items are resold on social media. While the company only receives 25%-15% in profit from one item, the turnaround on most items is quick meaning most of the inventory is easily liquidated and profited upon.
To kickstart this business, Gator Garb needs only $1,000 from you to truly begin to see dividends. The company is in action today, already having made a hundred dollars in profit in the last week alone, but with your help, we can do more.
To be honest, the feedback I received was not very constructive or criticising, but the one helpful comment I received was to move to a less distracting background. I did so, and hope that it adds to my pitch and does not detract from it.
Hello Maeghan,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your grabber it had me interested and made me laugh. After that I was really intrigued throughout the whole video. I liked how you emphasized student debt and how you called it a "creature". Your elevator pitch was very informative and it showed how you already had a business plan set step by step. You explained every aspect of Gator Garb and even explained how you already made profit this week, that was a great way to establish credibility and trustworthiness. Great Post!
Respectfully, Justino Quezada Jr.
Hey Maeghan,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed listening to your elevator pitch, I believe I watched the first version as well! With your pitch, I got a "sharktank" vibe off of it because of the last paragraph where you talked about the kickstart, It is important that you said that it is in action today, very realistic.
